Hello and thank you all for allowing me join your community!
I'm still very new to the whole IPv6 scene so please forgive me if I ask
"stupid questions".
A little about myself :
I'm a 41 yr old male and I have been working and playing
with computers since the 1980's when I received my first
"computer", a Texas Instruments Sinclair TI-99a. I later was able to
upgrade to a Commodore VIC-20 and eventually a C-64.
My C-64 allowed me to run a BBS system and gave me my first taste of
computer "networking". I was hooked!
Since them I have had almost every incarnation of PC's that have been
available starting with an AT&T PC-6300
and I have been fascinated by all aspects of computer networking and
servers.
Currently I have 4 Debian 4.0 Linux servers in my home along with 2
Windows XP desktop systems and 2 XP laptops.
One of my current projects is a WISP that I've been working to share my
DSL line with my neighbors for a small fee($10 month).
I've also been working on Apache web servers and Postfix mail servers
along with Bind9 of course and the other minor programs
and services that go along with such servers.
I have been unemployed for several months now and I am looking for
an entry level position as a repair tech in my area or possibly
something with a local ISP as a junior network admin. Really I'd be
interested in almost anything in the computer/IT field as long as I
would be able to work with networked computer systems and eventually
work with more advanced router and switching equipment.
Why do I care about IPv6? This is the future of the
internet...period. Anyone that does not see that is very short sighted.
IPv6 will
allow me to work with my own reverse DNS which is something I have been
wanting to learn and work with for several years now and
as soon as I heard this would be possible I signed up with SixXs.org for
my own subnet and in the coming months I will be working to
setup IPv6 and reverse DNS for the systems I admin here at home.
I'd like to take this opportunity to offer free hosting services to
anyone need some space for their IPv6 projects or an open source project.
I don't have world class services but, I do make my best effort to keep
my systems up and running.
Thank you again and I hope everyone is having a Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
George Lynn
